This play contributed a whole host of phrases to the English language. Ever heard of these? “The lady doth protest too much, methinks”, “hoist with one’s own petard”, “brevity is the soul of wit”, “more things in heaven and earth”. Amazingly, these quotes and indeed the entirety of Hamlet has been translated into Klingon, the fictional language of Star Trek fame.
