In true horror-writer fashion, the circumstances surrounding the death of Edgar Allan Poe are still unknown. The last two years of his life were spent traveling and giving lectures as he couldn’t bring himself to write following the death of his wife Virginia, who died at the age of 24. And, strangely enough, Poe’s rival Rufus Griswold wrote a rather scandalous and scathing obituary about the man. Haters gonna hate.
