Takoyaki come from Osaka and are extremely popular in Japan. They’re traditionally topped with nori seaweed, bonito fish-flakes, mayonnaise and special sauce. They’re similar in flavor to another Osaka favourite, okonomiyaki, which are savory pancakes served with a huge variety of toppings, including kimchi, mochi and whatever else you fancy. Its practically obligatory to wash it all down with beer.
