What is now considered the world’s oldest analogue computer, a clockwork device used in ancient Greece to calculate the movements of the stars, was uncovered by sponge divers in 1900! The amazing device known as the ‘Antikythera Mechanism’ was in use in the 2nd or 3rd century BC, but was looted by the pesky Romans a century or so after. The ship sank (karma?) and it was the humble sponge divers who uncovered its wreckage all those years later.
